COVID-19 Testing – St. James UMC

Wednesday, April 15, 2020 from 10am – 2pm

St. James United Methodist Church (5540 Wayne, KCMO 64110)

‘How to get tested’: Truman Medical Centers/University Health has offered our St. James Methodist church community members  COVID testing this week in our church parking lot (5540 Wayne, KCMO 64110) on Wednesday from 10-2pm. If you have symptoms and feel you need to be tested, PLEASE CALL 404-CARE (2273) and let them know your testing location would be St. James Station. This is available this Wednesday only, and is open only to people who show symptoms of COVID (fever, cough, new shortness of breath, flu-like symptoms). Results will be returned within 3 days, positive or negative.  404-CARE is answered Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Statement from Senior Pastor of St. James UMC Dr. Emanuel Cleaver III, “The reason why it is important for St. James to be a mobile COVID-19 testing site is because this virus has impacted the black community disproportionately.  We want to do all that we can to keep the Blue Hills Neighborhood and other 5th district residents informed and provide the best resources available by partnering with other community organizations.”

St. James is located in a zip code which we know is moderately affected, however serves surrounding areas of which is highly affected. This location is a centralized hot spot which serves predominately African American population. Providing mobile clinic testing at St. James is part of our effort to address inequities that exist within our community which have reflected in higher infection rates due to underlying chronic disease.

You will enter off the Paseo Blvd Side into the Parking Lot. There will be two stations, the first Station will determine if you have symptoms, if cleared you will exit the parking lot onto  Wayne Ave, if positive symptoms you will be directed to the Mobile Clinic in the parking lot.

Updates can be found on our website and our response to the Coronavirus threat is shared at  http://sjumckc.org/covid-19-news/
