Week of April 19, 2020

A HUGE thank you to Marty Johnston for the new design of this newsletter.

Below is the completed version of the Conductor minus the final coating. This sculpture is done by local artist, Jeff Best. This sculpture was commissioned by Clare County Arts Council and will be at the Clare Depot. CCAC plans to have an unveiling this summer. More details as they become available.

Carley Young is a Harrison High School student who played at the Christmas in Clare Event. CCAC and several of you supported her with a donation for her trip to Europe this summer. Carley has informed us the trip has been postponed to next year. Luckily Carley was able to transfer the donation to next years trip.

Just a reminder, many museums and public entertainment venues are now doing virtual tours. The Smithsonian Art Museum in Washington D.C. is one of them and Busch Gardens in Florida is another.

Stay Positive.

This life size wire and metal piece of an old time conductor holding a watch in one hand and a lantern in the other was commissioned by CCAC and is nearly finished.  We hope to install and unveil it later this summer. Understanding Your Digital SLR CameraComing soon image
This will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Cost $65

Having trouble knowing what many of those buttons and dials on your camera are for and how to use them? Easy to happen because of all the “stuff” camera manufacturers keep adding to their cameras so to entice you to purchase their cameras. This 3-week class is designed to help make sense of much of what is offered on your camera.

Some of the topics to be covered: shutter speeds, f/stops, controlling motion, what’s in focus, understanding your camera meter, composition,
exposure compensation, and how, why, and when to adjust the ISO. Fun easy photo assignments will be given and critiqued. Participants will receive an 8x10 print of their favorite image taken during the class.

To complete the assignments you will need your own camera for this class, the camera should be digital. The instructor is long time award winning professional photographer, Bob Guiliani. He and his wife, Linda, own Guys & Dolls Photography in Clare. To register or if you have questions, please contact Bob at 989.240.3644. The class is offered by the Clare County Arts Council and will be held at the Clare Union Depot located on 4th Street in Clare.

If you missed the first class, you have another opportunity to learn methods to improve your phone photography and create some awesome art images from your photos. Today’sphone cameras make it easy to record the scenes and actions in front of us.

Now that you’ve pushed that button, what’s next? During this two hour seminar Bob will discuss techniques to improve your phone photography. He will also demonstrate various apps that add enhancements and creativity to your images. Participants should bring their phone cameras so to try many of the examples Bob will show.

Participants in the first class enjoyed and learned much, and asked for another class.
Don’t miss this one!
