We hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well.
While all of us are navigating these strange and uncertain times and the impact of Covid-19 on our own lives and communities, we wanted to keep you up to date with what’s happening in the communities Blossom Africa supports in Bunambutye.
The people we support are our absolute priority. To help keep them safe we are following government guidelines and have temporarily suspended activities. By encouraging social distancing, stopping travel between the city of Mbale and the rural communities where we work, and pausing weekly group meetings we hope to help to contain the spread in Uganda (which as of 16 April has had 55 confirmed cases).
We have also been looking at ways we can increase our support at this difficult time and last month sent additional funds to buy soap and salt for all of our group members - nearly 200 people. We have also supported remote communications through payments for airtime and internet access, and have ensured that a 'tippy tap' for handwashing has been set up at the tree nursery by our partner MEACCE.
