COVID-19 Updates for Howard County Businesses

HCEDA is committed to keeping our business community informed on support and resources available to companies affected by the Coronavirus. Please fill out this brief COVID-19 business survey to help inform HCEDA in its efforts to provide information and assistance in the most effective manner possible.  

Business News & Updates

HoCo Farms Connect Map Connecting You to Local Farms 
Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball, in coordination with the Howard County Economic Development Authority and the Office of Sustainability, launched an innovative new tool to connect residents with farms in the county. The map will help residents locate farms that are offering delivery or pick up services amid COVID-19. HoCo Farms Connect allows farms to list their produce and other products that are available for purchase to the public. At this time, there are 13 farms listed, with more being added each day. 

MARBIDCO Pandemic Adjustment Loan Fund Program (PALFP) 
To help our food and fiber producers, harvesters, and processors adjust to business disruptions, the MD Agricultural and Resource-Based Industry Development Corporation established the Pandemic Adjustment Loan Fund program, which offers low cost loans with flexible terms. Donation & Volunteer News

The Horizon Foundation Making $1M Donation to Help Front-Line Care Workers During Coronavirus 
To help meet emergency health needs caused by the new coronavirus outbreak, The Horizon Foundation will be donating an additional $1 million. The new funding has been earmarked for a range of efforts including supporting Howard County's health care institutions and front line health care workers; enabling safe distancing for people in the county's only general homeless shelter and in residential programs for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities; and supporting local mental health needs. 

Howard County General Hospital is Accepting Donations  
These are uncertain times, but one thing that remains certain is our ability to support each other. Howard County General Hospital is accepting donations to support the hospital’s response to the coronavirus crisis. To learn more or make a donation, click here.  

Make a Donation to the Howard County Food Bank 
Last month, the Community Action Council’s Howard County Food Bank fed over 4,700 people. If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance in Howard County, or you would like to donate to the Food Bank to help your neighbors, click here.  

Sew Masks for KidsPeace Foster Care 
KidsPeace Foster Care is seeking donations of masks to distribute to their staff, clients, and foster families. If you or your sewing organization are able to assist, please consider sewing masks and donating them to KidsPeace
