John Kennedy's iconic sculpture, Spirit of Audrey, graces the plaza adjacent to UNICEF Headquarters at the United Nations in New York City. Kennedy chose to depict Audrey Hepburn in what the actress felt was her greatest role, as an advocate for children. As Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF from 1988 until her death in 1993, Hepburn visited children in impoverished countries around the world, using her celebrity to raise public awareness of the children's plight.
