The FFCRA or Families First Coronavirus Response Act was passed by Congress and signed by President Trump on March 24th. April 1st marked the first day that the Emergency Paid Sick Leave and Family and Medical Leave parts of the act became effective. They provide paid leave to employees forced to miss work specifically because of the COVID-19 outbreak and are effective through the end of this year, December 31, 2020.
