Just a short update from EU Insurance Direct and sincerely hope that everyone is healthy and well and free of Covid 19. I have over the last few weeks heard of several people that have contracted the virus, most have recovered but some haven’t. This is a very sad situation and who could comprehend this would get so serious and out of hand.
Bill Gates from Microsoft (if anyone has seen the video?) actually gave a presentation in 2015 telling the world that there would be a world disaster which did not include weapons or wars of any kind but we would be hit by a strain of virus so deadly and that the world would be totally unprepared for it. He explained that the virus would spread quickly how it would affect people and there would be massive deaths. I suppose he isn’t the first person to foretell a future disaster but one which was never heeded.
The biggest thank you has to be for all the nurses, doctors, all frontline staff, police, army for the shops that stay open, all keyworkers, the delivery drivers, pharmacies, dustmen, fireman and all essential businesses that are still offering services during this difficult time. Many of these groups put themselves in the most dangerous situations as they come into contact with virus sufferers on a daily basis. God bless them all….
Meanwhile we are still on Lockdown, the weather has been pretty wet and cold so I suppose it is a good time to stay home and watch a movie or two… read a book or two…but this is the only way we can help the situation. Spain has been correct in ordering the lockdown and I sincerely hope that as figures have started to fall or at least plateau that we are over the worst . However, we can never be complacent as the coast appears to have fairly low infections but let’s hope by end May we are able to get out and about and when perhaps the sun will remember to shine once more.

We are still working at EU Insurance and even though our office is closed to the public we are working both remotely and from the office a few days a week. you can always call us or email us with any queries. I have had many clients email me to ask me how they go about renewing their policies if we are closed… but we aren’t closed just cannot accept clients in person.
So whatever you need….. we are here for you.
INSURANCE PREMIUMS
If you are having problems with finance and in these difficult times if you are in the category of non-essential businesses and have had to close, it can be very worrying not knowing when you will receive funds again. We are trying to assist clients with problems. In some cases, we are able to split premiums even quarterly without interest to assist individual situations. Let us know. As it is a legal requirement to keep a car insured in Spain, what you don’t need is a fine through the post in 3 months’ time for not reinsuring the vehicle. We can reduce the cover to basic 3rd party if this helps.
For most of us this is the most terrifying thing that has happened in our lifetime but we will get through it and I am sure there will be a change in attitude and working conditions when we come out of it. Working from home has worked well for man companies able to do so and without internet none of this would have been possible.
We hope that in the next few weeks we will see a small and gradual change to enable us to come out of lockdown and to appreciate the open spaces, beautiful beaches, countryside, we will never take for granted again. Spain is a beautiful country and I am sure that as the warmer weather approaches and cross fingers hopefully the figures of infections reduce significantly, we will be able to get ourselves out and about again.
