UPDATE: The Madison Free Clinic is pleased to announce the availability of drive-up, COVID-19 testing at no cost to our patients. Beginning next week, those Free Clinic patients who have been pre-screened and referred by one of our providers will be able to provide an oropharyngeal (throat) swap to a licensed nurse from the privacy and comfort of their vehicle in our parking lot. Specimens will be sent same-day by courier to a commercial lab in Charlottesville for processing. The patient will be contacted directly once the results are available.
In order to protect both our patients and providers while providing this service, we need to increase our inventory of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), most especially disposable isolation gowns.
Any PPE (including homemade cloth masks) that exceed our immediate needs will be made available to others in the community.
