Hello Friends,

Below is the service of the Lord's Supper we will share on Maundy Thursday night. Please print it so you may follow along and participate as we 'virtually' share in the Lords Supper together, on line.

Thank you!
Rev. Lissa Bradford

The Lord’s Supper: Matthew 11: 28, 29; John 6: 35; Matthew 5: 6
Jesus said:
Come to me all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  I am the bread of life.  Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Eternal God, holy and mighty, it is truly right and our greatest joy to give you thanks and praise, and to worship you in every place where your glory abides.

Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with the heavenly choirs and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

Holy!  Holy!  Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.  Hosanna in the highest.  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.  Hosanna in the highest.
Amen

Preparation
Let us now prepare our hearts for the Lord’s Supper with silent reflection and prayer.

(Silent Reflection)

And, turning our eyes towards the Lord, we now profess our common faith using the Apostle’s Creed:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and dead.  I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.

Words of Institution
Based on Luke 22: 19 -20
On the night of his arrest, Jesus took bread, and after giving thanks to God, broke it, gave it to his disciples and said “Take, eat, this is my body given for you, do this in remembrance of me.”

(distribution of the bread)

The body of Christ, the bread of heaven.  Amen

In the same way, he took the cup, again giving thanks to God, gave the cup to his disciples and said, “This is the new covenant sealed in my blood, shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven.  Do this in remembrance of me.”

(distribution of the cups)

The blood of Christ, the cup of salvation.  Amen

Each time you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the saving death and resurrection of our Lord, until he comes again in glory.

Praise be to God.
Lord, pour out your mercy upon us that these gifts may be the communion of the body and blood of Christ.

Grant us the grace of your presence and we come before you, praying as Jesus taught us, saying “Our Father who art in heaven hallowed by thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
