The “Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act)” included $12 billion in housing and homelessness resources to help prevent an outbreak of the virus among people experiencing homelessness and low-income renters. This spending bill was an important first step, but Congress must provide far more resources to meet the dire and urgent needs of people experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness.

Tell Your U.S. Representative to Sign On to the House Homelessness Caucus COVID-19 “Dear Colleague” Letter
Complete this easy-to-use comment letter here: https://endhomelessness.org/actions/letter-tell-the-house-to-sign-on-to-more-money-for-homelessness-funding-in-new-covid-19-bill/

The “Dear Colleague” Letter asks members of the House to advocate for increased homelessness and housing funding in the next federal Coronavirus spending package. This includes an ask for:
  • $11.5 billion for emergency solutions grants (ESG) funding to ensure homeless individuals and families are safely sheltered from COVID-19. ESG money would also be used to rapidly re-house a significant number of people.
  • $3 billion for Housing Choice Vouchers so that people being temporarily housed in hotels and motels – including vulnerable elderly, disabled, and sick people experiencing homelessness - don’t become homeless again when the pandemic recedes.
  • $100 billion for rental assistance so that those benefitting from the eviction moratoria aren’t evicted after the pandemic. Rental assistance also helps landlords and other housing providers.

Message from DHS

Need Cleaning Supplies?

I talked to Amazon this morning about obtaining cleaning supplies that are being sold to medical facitlies only.  In order for a shelter to be eligible to obtain Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, etc. your agency will need to create a business account with Amazon.  You can create a business account at the following link:   https://www.amazon.com/b2b/info/amazon-business?layout=landing .

You will need to complete a few questions and give detailed information about needing the supplies as it relates to the COVID-19 crisis.
