Festivalen er flyttet online og vi sender her et overblik over, hvad du kan forvente dig herfra i april måned. Vi havde glædet os til at servere jer 200+ events ude i virkeligheden, som den så ud præ-corona, men i stedet serverer vi her nogle smittefrie forslag til at sætte krydderi på din april måned.
Kære Frank Jensen
I slutningen af sidste år sendte vi et ‘open call’ ud til arkitekturens mange aktører med henblik på at komme med idéer og konkrete forslag til Københavns grønne omstilling gennem breve stilet direkte til Københavns overborgmester Frank Jensen. Meningen var at brevene skulle udstilles og debatteres i Politikens Forhal og Boghal i festivalperioden. Denne del er nu udskudt på ubestemt tid, og vi ser frem til at kunne fortælle mere om det, når vi kender situationen bedre.
I mellemtiden publicerer vi de 50 breve i en digital publikation og takker alle bidragsyderne for deres indsats med at give den grønne omstilling kvalificeret indspark nu, hvor der kun er 5 år til at indfri Københavns ambitiøse målsætning om at blive CO2-neutral. Vi håber på, at brevene vil inspirere til idéudveksling og nytænkning, og at de mange gode intentioner, der bl.a. blev diskuteret ved klimatopmødet C40 i efteråret 2019 i København, kan forplante sig til konkret handling.

Kom til digital (og coronafri) åbning af udstillingen Watch more TV! den 24. april med arkitekturpraksissen Brandlhuber+ og film kunstneren Christopher Roth. De står også bag dette års tyske pavillon på Venedig Biennalen og underviser og driver en TV-kanal på ETH Zürich. Oprindelig skulle udstillingen foregå på arkitektskolen KADKs bibliotek, men pga. lockdown's indskrænkning af fysisk rum vil vi køre den i gammeldags flow TV-format - ikke streaming, Zoomers og Netflix seere! Følg med når vores virus ramte hjemmeside overtages af film, talks, diskussioner og andre bidrag fra fremtrædende danske, tyske og internationale stemmer indenfor arkitekturen og samfundstænkningen som Mark Wigley, Niklas Maak, Sandra Bartoli, Arno Brandlhuber, Stephan Trüby og Donna Haraway. Oplev bl.a. bud på verdens tilstand hinsides vanlig krisetænkning, undersøgelser af forholdet mellem arkitektur, økonomi og politik, innovative projekter om sundhed og arkitektur som malariahuse i Tanzania, en post-metropolitan horisontal urbanisme i Østjylland anno 2038 med Deane Simpson og hans studerende fra KADK, udforskning af landdistrikternes potentialer ud fra Rem Koolhaas’ udstilling på Guggenheim, fiktive fremtidsscenarier fra 2038, når der er styr på klimakrisen, at huse det ikke-menneskelige, hvorfor lineært TV fordriver boblerne, Brandlhuber+ filmtrilogi om Architecting og meget mere. Vær med til at undersøge paralleller mellem TV-mediet og arkitekturen, der begge kan forstærke et argument, fortælle historier, skabe rum og frame verden på nye måder midt i og efter en krisetid.

Projektet er en del af det dansk-tyske kulturelle venskabsår 2020. Også tak til Statens Kunstfond.
I denne omvæltningens tid lancerede Copenhagen Architecture Festival i sidste uge to Open Calls, for at indsamle betragtninger og visioner omkring arkitekturen, hjemmet, byplanlægningen, det offentlige rum og det byggede miljøs sociale liv i kontekst af Corona-krisen. De indkomne bidrag fra hele verden kan læses her og annonceres løbende på Facebook og Instagram.
Begge vores Open Calls løber foreløbig frem til 1. maj, og vi modtager gerne jeres bidrag!

Join the digital (and corona-free) opening of the exhibition Watch more TV! on 24 April with the architectural practice Brandlhuber+ and the film artist Christopher Roth. They’re also curating this year's German pavilion at the Venice Biennale as well as teaching and running a TV channel at ETH Zürich. Originally, the exhibition was supposed to take place at the architecture school KADK's library, but because of the lack of physical space during the current lockdown, we will shift to an old-school flow TV format - not streaming, Zoomers and Netflix viewers! Follow our ‘virus affected’ website as it gets overtaken by films, talks, discussions and other contributions from prominent Danish, German and international voices in architecture and societal thinking such as Mark Wigley, Niklas Maak, Sandra Bartoli, Arno Brandlhuber, Stephan Trüby, and Donna Haraway. Experience thought experiments for the state of the world beyond conventional crisis thinking, examinations of relationships between architecture, economics and politics, innovative work on health and architecture like malaria houses in Tanzania, post-metropolitan horizontal urbanism in East Jutland anno 2038 with Deane Simpson and his students from KADK, exploration of the potentials of the countryside linking to Rem Koolhaas’ Guggenheim exhibition, fictional future scenarios of 2038 when the climate crisis is under control, housing the non-human, why linear TV dispels the bubbles, Brandlhuber+ film trilogy on Architecting and much more. Explore parallels between the TV medium and architecture that can both reinforce an argument, telling stories, creating new spaces and framing the world in new ways.
NB: The exhibition program will be announced ongoingly and will run as flow TV - not streaming!

Dear Frank Jensen - Letters to our Mayor
At the end of last year, we sent out an open call to a variety of actors within the field of architecture with the aim of gathering ideas and concrete proposals for Copenhagen's green transition through letters addressed directly to Copenhagen's Lord Mayor, Frank Jensen. The intention was that the letters should be exhibited and discussed in the large newspaper Politiken’s exhibition space and book shop during the festival period. This part of the project has now been postponed, however, we look forward to telling you more about it when we know the situation better.
In the meantime, we are publishing the 50 letters as a digital publication and want to use the opportunity to thank all the contributors for their efforts to provide qualified inputs to the green transition, now with only 5 years left for Copenhagen to accomplish its ambitious goal of becoming a CO2 neutral city. We hope that the letters will inspire exchange and innovation of ideas and that the good intentions discussed at the climate summit C40 in October 2019 in Copenhagen, can propagate into concrete action.
The letters will be published as a digital publication on our website from the 17th of April!

In this unprecedented time, Copenhagen Architecture Festival announced two Open Calls last week in order to collect observations and visions for architecture, the home, urban planning, public space, and the sociality of the built environment in the context of the Corona-crisis. The in-coming contributions from around the world can be read here and are continuously announced on Facebook and Instagram.
Both of our Open Calls run until May 1st, and we are looking forward to receiving your contributions!
Open Call 1: Observations, visions, and considerations on the impact of the Corona-crisis on the built environment in both the Danish and international contexts The format is open and can be both text and illustration, however, please write in either English or Danish.
