The National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) is committed to being a supportive community partner during this uncertain time in our world. The health and safety of our staff, their families, and the greater Nashville community remains our top priority.
Overcoming the challenges of the next few weeks is a task that will take our collective ingenuity and resolve. The Transition to Digital Programming

To this end, we are hosting some of our signature programming online, beginning with From Nothing to Something (FN2S) on Thursday, April 9, at 12PM CST on Facebook Live.

NMAAM Presents: FN2S Harmonica Workshop featuring Carlos Deford Bailey

Join us on Facebook Live as Nashville native Carlos Deford Bailey explores the history of the harmonica and provides knowledge about how the instrument influenced the development of music genres.

From Nothing to Something (FN2S) is a series of workshops that educate students about the music innovations early African Americans used to create by memory and with limited resources. The program includes seven different workshops: Spoons, Harmonica, Lyrics, Cigar Box Guitar, Banjo, Rhythm and Drums, and Wash Tub Bass.
