HCEDA Collaborates with Industry Partners to Launch Relief Program Eligibility Wizard
As part of a continued response to the impacts of COVID-19, HCEDA has collaborated with industry partners, business leaders, and statewide organizations to launch the Relief Program Eligibility Wizard. The wizard allows businesses to easily identify which State and Federal programs they may be eligible for and provides information on the application processes for those programs. In collaboration with legal, financial, and human resources subject matter experts, the team will continue to monitor federal and state resources and update the Relief Program Eligibility Wizard as new programs become available, or as existing programs change in availability. Fire Marshall Guidance for Businesses
The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, Office of the Fire Marshall will be sending a letter to many, retailers to promote fire/life safety and ensure no fire code violations occur during the pandemic. Many businesses are changing protocols intended to maintain the health and safety of employees and the public, however, any condition which creates a situation where life safety measures normally in place are diminished is prohibited. Governor Designates Howard County as “Hot Spot”
Howard County was designated by Governor Hogan today as a “Hot Spot” within the State of Maryland, allowing the region to be a priority for federal assistance.
HoCo Philanthropies Exceed Goal of Raising $100K to Address COVID-19
Four local philanthropies have exceeded their goal of raising $100,000 in 10 days to provide Howard County nonprofits with emergency funds in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The Community Foundation of Howard County, Horizon Foundation, United Way of Central Maryland, and Women's Giving Circle of Howard County established the HoCoRespond.com fundraising website in late March. In just 10 days, the philanthropies raised about $130,000 in emergency funds that are now available to support nonprofits on the front lines of assisting with food security, housing, childcare, and healthcare.
