Face this challenge with the Word of God.

Jesus spoke the Word of God throughout his ministry. When faced with the devil's lies and temptations, he countered with the truth of God's Word. The spoken Word of God is like a living, powerful sword in our mouths (Hebrews 4:12), and if Jesus depended upon it to face challenges in life, so can we.

If you need encouragement from God's Word to conquer your fears, take strength from these Bible verses about courage.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. (NKJV)

Joshua 1:3-9
I promise you what I promised Moses: "Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you ... No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous ... SENIOR ADULTS (39Rs)
My, my, my! How quickly things can change over two months. In the last newsletter I talked about taking a trip to see bluebonnets (which unfortunately has had to be cancelled). These are truly historic days in the life of this American experiment. God is giving America and the world an opportunity to realize how finite and fragile humanity is.

This is a great opportunity for the Church to really step forward and become the people of God who will bring the Light to a world that has but One Hope and that is Jesus Christ! We may think we can’t do much but truly this is a great time to pray and share the Hope we have in Jesus. People are ready to talk about eternal things more now than at any time I can remember since World War II.

Recently, I had a neighbor on our street who was walking his dog. He opened a conversation with me and wondered which book in the Bible is the best for him to read during this time. The door was wide open for me to share Jesus! Keep watch for opportunities the Lord gives you.

This is a time we can and should be sharing with each other by phone, mail, internet, and any other way possible to encourage and pray for one another! We certainly should pray for all those in authority, as well as the sick and those who are caring for the sick. Our King is near! May He find us faithful ‘til the end!

DISCIPLESHIP
Charles Dickens once wrote, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...” It is interesting how this statement has greater significance to us today. In one month, our country went from the lowest unemployment to the highest. Most of us have never experienced anything like this. There are some that may remember the effects of WW II on our economy with all the shortages and rationing of many items. During that time of war, we learned that as a nation, we can adjust and there is light at the end of the tunnel. We learned that ultimately God is in control.

As people of faith in the Lord Jesus, these are the times that we must remember who is ultimately in control of our lives. Jesus said in Matthew 28:20 that He will be with us always! We have not been abandoned nor forgotten. Jesus truly is our Savior. Remember the song that says, “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is shifting sand.” And as a reminder of the importance of reading, studying and applying God’s word to our life during times Jesus said…

So, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock. And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like a stupid (foolish) man who built his house upon the sand. These difficult times reminds us that it is our faith that is the only thing that guides us through difficult times. Remember we have a Savior that is trustworthy, in control and there is nothing, no pandemic and no life event that can separate us from His love and protection for us.

James writes:
You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So, don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work, so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. James 1:3-4 (MSG)

Enfréntate a este desafío con la Palabra de Dios.

Jesús habló la Palabra de Dios a lo largo de su ministerio. Cuando se enfrentó a las mentiras y tentaciones del diablo, contraatacó con la verdad de la Palabra de Dios. La Palabra de Dios hablada es como una espada viva y poderosa en nuestra boca (Hebreos 4:12), y si Jesús dependía de ella para enfrentar desafíos en la vida, nosotros también.

ADULTOS SENIOR (39Rs)
¡No lo puedo creer! La rapidez con la que las cosas pueden cambiar durante dos meses. En el último boletín hablé de hacer un viaje para ver bluebonnets (que por desgracia ha tenido que ser cancelado). Estos son días verdaderamente históricos en la vida de este experimento americano. Dios está dando a Estados Unidos y al mundo la oportunidad de darse cuenta de lo finito y frágil que es la humanidad.

¡Esta es una gran oportunidad para que la Iglesia realmente de un paso al frente y se convierta en el pueblo de Dios que traerá la Luz a el mundo, que tenemos Una Esperanza y que es Jesucristo! Podemos pensar que no podemos hacer mucho, pero realmente este es un gran momento para orar y compartir la Esperanza que tenemos en Jesús. La gente está lista para hablar de cosas eternas más ahora que en cualquier otro momento que se pueda recordar desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Recientemente, tuve un vecino en nuestra calle que estaba paseando a su perro. Abrió una conversación conmigo y se preguntó qué libro de la Biblia es el mejor para él para leer durante este tiempo. ¡La puerta estaba abierta para compartir a Jesús! Esta atento a las oportunidades que el Señor te da.

Este es un momento que podemos y debemos compartir entre nosotros por teléfono, correo, Internet, ¡y cualquier otra manera posible para animar y orar unos por otros! Ciertamente debemos orar por todos los que tienen autoridad, así como por los enfermos y los que cuidan a los enfermos. ¡Nuestro Rey está cerca! ¡Que nos encuentre fieles hasta el final!

Discipulado
Charles Dickens escribió una vez: "Fue el mejor de los tiempos, fue el peor de los tiempos..." Es interesante cómo esta declaración tiene un mayor significado para nosotros hoy en día. En un mes, nuestro país pasó del desempleo más bajo al más alto. La mayoría de nosotros nunca hemos experimentado algo como esto. Hay algunos que pueden recordar los efectos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial en nuestra economía con toda la escasez y racionamiento de muchos artículos. Durante ese tiempo de guerra, aprendimos que como nación, nos podemos ajustar y que hay luz al final del túnel. Aprendimos que, en última instancia, Dios está en control.

Como personas de fe en el Señor Jesús, estos son los tiempos en que debemos recordar quién está en última instancia en control de nuestra vida. Jesús dijo en Mateo 28:20 que estará siempre con nosotros! No hemos sido abandonados ni olvidados. Jesús es verdaderamente nuestro Salvador. Recuerda la canción que dice: "En Cristo, la roca sólida en que estoy, todos los demás terrenos son arena movediza". Y como recordatorio de la importancia de leer, estudiar y aplicar la palabra de Dios a nuestra vida durante los tiempos que Jesús dijo...

Así que, todos los que escuchen estas palabras mías y actúen sobre ellas [obedeciéndolas] serán como un hombre sensato (prudente, práctico y sabio) que construyó su casa sobre la roca. Y la lluvia cayó y las inundaciones llegaron y los vientos soplaron y golpearon contra esa casa; sin embargo, no cayó, porque se había fundado en la roca. Estos tiempos difíciles nos recuerdan que es nuestra fe lo único que nos guía a través de tiempos difíciles. Recuerden que tenemos un Salvador que es confiable, en control y no hay nada, ninguna pandemia y ningún evento en la vida que pueda separarnos de Su amor y protección por nosotros.
