Hannah Commandeers the Enews...
Hello Art on Sedgwick Community! It's Hannah - I've decided to take over the e-news this week! Here are some thoughts for you:
|
|
I was just introduced to this phrase by Carl Sagan - “For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.” His daughter used it as the title of her book and, as I read, the words seemed connected to our present moment. I feel a different idea of “vastness”, in essence, as I breathe through my mask in the grocery store -- the vast, unknown microscopic void between me and the next person in line.
Creating is the way I make sense of everything and how I connect to the people I care about. That’s why I feel passionate about contributing project ideas to the blog and what these newsletters are here to communicate. If you're looking for resources to keep creating, check out the "Create at Home" section at the bottom of the email. In this e-news, you will also find instructions for teen artists to apply for our summer job program (which will likely be on-line) and highlights of another artist from our Drawn Together show: Kwabena Foli.
Keep making things and loving people,
Hannah
... also I honestly couldn't survive without a good coronavirus meme once a day so since I'm taking over the enews, here's one for ya'll.

Do you know a teen artist who would enjoy a summer job creating art and community impact? Our summer session is now open for applications. Go to the After School Matters website to fill out the application, and search for the program "Art & Impact". You can also email us create@artonsedgwick.org to let us know you've applied.

DRAWN TOGETHER EXHIBIT at MADRON
This week, we're featuring Kwabena Foli and his work in our show. I got a chance to reahd his new poetry book, and I would highly recommend it.

Hello Art + Impact! As class comes to an end this week, we're going to keep in touch about a final meeting with everyone. We're hoping to schedule a Zoom or conference call with as many of you as possible. Keep safe! And if you're interested in the Summer Session, let us know - no need to reapply.
