Each of our region’s county public health departments have their own dedicated coronavirus websites, with information about local cases, transmission and responses: The state of California also has a dedicated coronavirus website with statewide numbers and updates.

Note: Infections in a community may vary against reported numbers, due to factors such as testing limitations. See local websites for context.

Boosting California’s testing capacity
After steadily increasing its own coronavirus testing, UC Davis Health is collaborating with the state to boost California’s, as announced by Gov. Gavin Newsom. UC Davis Health experts are also helping to set state and national standards for responding to COVID-19.

Environmental damage helps viruses jump to humans
Loss of habitat and biodiversity increases risk of viral spillover from animals to humans, UC Davis researchers reported in an internationally covered study, and it’s expected to get worse. There may also be climate change impacts.
