Shipping Season, Health, and Events

Shipping season for us starts in May, which is coming up soon, so we need to share some updates and plans. Being mail-order we're by nature a business where we don't come into contact with our customers. In this pandemic it's important that we all stay healthy. As long as neither of us become infected, we do plan to ship product on schedule as planned. If this changes because of our health or government directives, we'll let you know.

Another important consideration is my health. In January I was diagnosed with early stage stomach cancer. I had surgery in February and recently started chemotherapy. My prognosis is good and I intend to be around quite awhile yet. There will be times when I am not feeling up to doing much at all and Diane still works, so there may be shipping delays depending how I'm feeling, but we'll try our best to get product out in a timely manner. We will also do our best to communicate when shipments are going out and if there will be delays or not. Also because of of chemotherapy I will be immunocompromised and we're cancelling all of our event appearances through July of this year. We're looking forward to seeing many of you in 2021 though!

Weather is another consideration, as we're so far north plants may be delayed just because of cold. As always spring is a fun challenge and we'll keep you updated!

New Plants!

We have a list of new and returning plants up on the website. As always we're trying to find fun new plants to include. Returning after too long an absence is Acer pseudoplatanus 'Esk Sunset'. This beautifully variegated maple has been in demand but we'd been unable to get any until this season. Another plant that people have been asking for is Athyrium 'Dre's Dagger' and we're finally getting a small quantity. They will be ready closer to June. Corydalis flexuosa 'Porcelain Blue' is a new cultivar that flowers all season and seems to overwinter slightly better for some. It likely won't overwinter for us here in the north but we knew several of you might be interested so we are growing them. We of course also have several new Helleborus, Heuchera, and Hostas. We also broke our Hosta section up into Mini-Small, Medium, and Large+ to make browsing a bit easier.  Definitely check out our selection.

New Location!

Continuing with more positive news, we finally moved last fall. All of our plants are now at one location which simplifies EVERYTHING. We still have several other things to get moved up here and a lot to do. We will eventually have open days, hopefully as early as next season. We're now in Antigo, WI and have 12 acres for our home and the nursery. There are a lot of projects for us to get done, but it's much better than a tiny apartment and driving 200 miles to get to the nursery. We'll keep you updated on our progress and feel free to check out our blog for progress on gardens etc.
