RETIREMENTS
Bruce Freeman

Our beloved, and awesome, English teacher  is retiring.  Mr. Freeman has been teaching for 58 years! With twenty of those years teaching at TCA, he has decided that this will be his last year. When asked what has been the best about teaching, Mr. Freeman says, "It really has been fun!   Teaching is fun, impacting lives is rewarding.  It has been my calling since I was 15 years old."
Cheryl Simmonds

Mrs. Simmonds has been teaching for 23 years, with seventeen of those years here at TCA.  Teaching was actually her third career.  She worked at JCPenney for 10 years, 3 years at AAA Insurance, but she always felt like there was something missing. That missing piece was teaching.   When asked what has been the best about teaching, Mrs. Simmonds says, "The relationship with the kids...To be able to see a child that is struggling and to work with them ...they go from struggling with the 'I can't', to realizing they can!
To help them overcome their weaknesses and becoming successful students - that is the best part about teaching."  Mrs. Simmonds will continue to teach art at TCA, part-time.
Vicki Hall

One of our newest teachers at TCA that has also made the tough decision to retire.  Mrs. Hall has been teaching for 30 years, 20 of those years, full time.  She has had the privilege to teach in California, Ohio and for the past two years, here at TCA.   When asked what she loves best about teaching, she says, “Seeing the ‘light’ come on in a child.”   Mrs. Hall loves teaching and cannot really see herself in any other capacity, or not teaching.  That is why we are blessed that she will still be with TCA in a part-time capacity.
We want to extend our most heartfelt gratitude to these amazing teachers that have committed their lives to follow God’s calling to teach and minister to children.  Ellen White said,

“Teachers are to do more for their students than to impart a knowledge of books. Their position as guide and instructor of the youth is most responsible, for to them is given the work of molding mind and character. Those who undertake this work should possess well-balanced, symmetrical characters. They should be refined in manner, neat in dress, careful in all their habits; and they should have that true Christian courtesy that wins confidence and respect. The teacher should be himself what he wishes his students to become.”

We have been blessed with these three whom exemplify this standard.  Thank you for your selfless dedication to young people for all these years!  May God continue to lead and guide them in their future endeavors.
