Dear Reader — remember when screen time was something we felt we had to put some boundaries on? Anyone feeling that way now??

Of course, screen time is different now that we’re all shut-ins and the screen is how we attend school and share recipes and observe, literally, the holidays. Also, TV is usually a passive thing, but screen time in lockdown is much more interactive. It’s nice to know talking to your TV isn’t just for TV critics and crazy old guys anymore!

If you missed the lively screen time I had with two other TV critics, as we talked about things to watch, video and audio of our panel are both online. And if you haven’t yet grabbed your free copy of my compilation Hunker Down TV, now’s the time. I fixed the link for those of you who had trouble with the download. Also, if you’re getting two emails from me, scroll down to the bottom of one (just one) and click Unsubscribe.

Just one new pick this week but it’s a classic well worth investing some couch time in this week. Next week in Primetimer, I’ll have two pieces on FX on Hulu’s spectacular Mrs. America, a miniseries about the women’s lib movement of the 1970s. Thanks for reading! — Aaron

Is ‘Modern Family’ the last really big show?

We can debate whether ABC’s long-running hit comedy was “pathbreaking” or “normalizing” or not, but one thing is beyond dispute — they don’t make sitcoms like this anymore. Read my story in Primetimer.
