Typically, ENACT Day takes place in Sacramento and centers advocacy on a set of priority bills that increase health and equity in California. This year, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re both moving ENACT Day online and shifting our focus to making sure that we best serve our communities’ needs during the COVID-19 crisis.
We’re using the event as an opportunity for community members to voice their current challenges and needs, to learn how state and national policies will impact and bring relief to our communities, to discuss the health equity impacts of COVID-19, and to meet with a legislator on zoom and share their experiences and needs. Given current events, we feel that it’s more important than ever to uplift our communities’ voices and to push for an equity approach to any COVID-19 response efforts. Although we’re disappointed to not be able to meet in person this year, we look forward to connecting virtually, and hope that the shortened, online format will allow for more California residents to participate.
Virtual ENACT Day will be held April 30th, and has two parts:
- Virtual Town Hall: Health Equity Impacts of COVID-19: 10am - 11:30am
Get an update on the federal and state policy response to COVID-19; share your most pressing concerns; and learn how to conduct a legislative visit.
- Legislative visits: 12pm - 3:00pm
Break into smaller groups by region, prepare your agenda, and then meet a California state representative. Visits will take place between 12pm-3pm, and you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for the slots that best fit your schedule.
