Lots of information in this newsletter, virtual meet ups for parents and teens, online art shows, respite funding, a chance to help shape our programs and so much more!
We think it may be fun for our kids to colour or decorate some artwork and have it incorporated in a photo slideshow or video on our facebook page. What we need from you is some art OR photos of you creating art with kids we can include. Please send photos directly to our email support@victoriaautism.com by April 17th. Because of the support of generous donors, the Board is happy to annouce a spring/summer respite and recreation funding for children up to age 19.
As always, these funds can be used as always toward respite workers and community programs; however, in light of the covid-19 we are also extending this to allow for payment towards subscription services or computer equipment (such as webcams/headphones) to allow for virtual social experiences. Please look at the application form for more information.

We'd like to see some virtual meet-ups of parents,teens and kids to encourage some socialization during this social distant time.

Do you have a bored teen (or a soon to be teen) in your house? We want to try a virtual game night. Sign up on the eventbrite website to grab a free ticket.
Of course, we are all familiar with the image used for the Covid-19 virus. Firstly, we wanted to say thank you to all the essential workers and front line health workers keeping us safe.
Also, we know this is an incredibly stressful time especially for those caring for special kids, lack of school time and loss of jobs.
Some of our partners have made us aware of a number of organizations to help us, some have specifically asked us how they can help Victoria Autism members. There are people willing to shop for you, walk pets, crisis lines and food banks throughout the city and suburbs. No qualifications, just show up at a specific time and get some food. Please check out our Covid-19 webpage for more information or email us.
Would you like to volunteer to run online teen and kid programs such as netflix watch party or online parent coffee breaks. If you have some expertise here or like to learn contact us and check out our website.
Also, our board is looking for new board members. Our recent board meetings have had great food and treats especially since they are all virtual now, we'd love to have your significant partner's help, sign them up today!
