He is Risen!

Dear friends,

Many of us have celebrated Easter like never before; the reality that we follow a risen Savior and Lord who suffered is all the more poignant and powerful in this season.

Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb…  she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
John 20:11,14-16

In this beautiful narrative, Jesus met Mary in her suffering, acknowledged her confusion, sadness, and desire, then called her name, causing her to respond in recognition and joy.

Our community has wept together in this season and may continue to do so.  Although we have the assurance that Jesus is alongside us in our current suffering, his desire is not to leave us lost and wondering.  While he was with her in life, Mary was so attuned to Jesus’s voice that she was able to recognize him in the darkness.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13

The apostle Paul prefaces this famous chapter with this statement at the end of chapter 12; ‘But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.’  Because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, we have been empowered to live toward this fullness of life.

We invite you to grow deeper with us in the gifts of faith, hope, and love which will remain when everything else might fade. Please consider joining us for our contemplative prayer times that aim to nurture these gifts.  We believe God will respond to our presence by taking all we are currently experiencing in refining and purifying the faith, hope, and love we offer ourselves and others.  Jesus was compelled by an unwavering and resolute love to live and complete his earthly journey before ascending to be at the right hand of God.
Let it be the same for us.

In faith, hope, and love,
Erika, Manni and May
