Workplace Learning
The New Normal
Navigating change

There is no doubt that Coronavirus has affected the way all of us live and work. There has been an acceleration in the uptake of working from home, video calls, online shopping, contactless payment and more.

It’s clear we are changing our habits, and some of these habits are bound to stick, they will become the new normal and for some of us there will be no going back.

It’s not just people who have changed, businesses have changed their working practices and the way they interact and engage with customers to ensure we all keep safe.

Social distancing

It's likely to be with us for some time, which for many of our clients has made delivering classroom training problematic. However, companies can’t simply push the pause button on learning, the need is still there and perhaps in these uncertain times, it’s even more pertinent.
A new approach

So, it’s time to consider a new approach, certainly promoting existing eLearning offerings but also the redeployment of training resources to rapidly develop new online materials to replace some of your business-critical face-to-face training.

Adapting to change

At Autonomy we are ready to help our clients as they adapt to this ‘new normal’.

We would recommend conducting a rapid triage of your entire portfolio of learning offerings, both face-to-face and online.

Let’s tackle your existing online courses first, now is a good time to relaunch some of your most important modules - but before you do that make sure they are current and HTML5 rather than Flash, if not we can also help you to update these accordingly.

It might also be worth repackaging longer courses into smaller modules, these enable specific topics to be located more quickly, and make study easier during a busy working day.

Transferring
face-to-face courses to
online

Next consider your face-to-face courses.

Y
ou will need to prioritise which courses you wish to transfer to an online format.

You won’t be able to create digital versions of everything, so you need to be strategic about where you allocate your resources.

Identify courses to move online

When prioritising, consider the business impact of not delivering each training course. For example, is the training needed for performing key tasks in the workplace or for selling important products and services?
Of course, only a small part [or parts] of an existing course may be required to be transferred online to fulfil a specific need. This might even be advantageous, by selecting certain parts of the course to deliver online now, you create an opportunity in the future to develop a more blended solution. A combination of face-to-face and online components.

Having identified which training you would like to move online, how do you start developing these modules?

We’ve identified a number of approaches, which are quick, cost effective and wherever possible utilise your own
in-house resources.
