Yes, I'm worried.
Did you have a chance to listen to this month's "The World Is Noisy - God Whispers" Podcast titled "Are you worried?"? It was just released on Saturday, so you may not have heard it yet. For those of you who might have missed it or who haven't had a chance to tune in, let me give you the details.

On this episode I spend the entire 24 minutes talking about how it's pointless and a complete waste of time to worry. I talk about how this is true on a psychological level and also remind listeners that Jesus himself tells us this (in Matthew, Chapter 6). I then give some practical tips on how we can uproot the worry in our lives, yes, even when we're in the midst of some pretty scary storms.

I'm bringing this up today because I have something incredibly funny to share with you. Brace yourselves, I'm about to get real . . .

I recorded this podcast on Thursday of last week. After I hit the stop button and saved the episode, I left my office and then spent the next hour - Oh, who am I kidding? It was more like the next 2 hours. - worrying about what I said on the show. That's right, after spending 24 minutes telling others how futile worry is, I spent the next two hours of my own life WORRYING that what I said was stupid, insignificant, and just terrible advice all together.

Isn't that funny? ... I thought so too!

So, you see, I'm not immune to the worrying either. It takes real work and a tremendous amount of grace not to let your mind become consumed with pointless, worry-filled thoughts. With that being said, I plan to spend extra time surrendering my less-than-saintly actions to the Lord and focusing my mind, heart, and soul on Him this week.

My friends, in just a few short days I will be spending time with our most merciful God in silence and prayer on my annual retreat. I plan to take all of you there with me spiritually and would be most humbled to present any of your specific prayer requests to the Lord while I am there as well. If you have any prayer intentions you would like me to pray for, please send them my way! (You can do so by replying to this email.)

Please pray for me, my friends. And know that I am also praying for you.
