Artist Support Grants Are Now Available! 

The North Carolina Arts Council has established the Artist Support Grant (ASG) as a one-year regional grant program to support individual artists during and following the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will fund professional and artistic development for emerging or established artists to create work, improve their business operations, or bring their work to new audiences.

Artist Support Grants will be distributed to eligible applicants by Haywood County Arts Council in the following counties: Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Polk, Rutherford, and Transylvania. Learn More>>

Buncombe County Arts Business Impact Survey

Arts organizations were among the first to have to close their doors, and many have suffered substantial losses. Americans for the Arts Impact Dashboard shows over $5.2 million in lost revenue so far from the 89 arts organizations in Buncombe County that have responded. For perspective, there are (were) almost 500 arts organizations and close to 10,000 creative jobs in Buncombe County before the pandemic.

Black Lives Matter Mural Installed in Downtown

On Sunday, July 19, 20+ artists came together to create a Black Lives Matter mural in the heart of downtown Asheville. Many thanks go to Councilwoman Sheneika Smith for providing the leadership to bring community members, artists, and the Asheville of City together to create this community project. The Asheville Area Arts Council is proud to serve as the coordinating body and fiscal agent for this initiative, which we and our partners agree can, in Sheneika’s words: “ galvanize solidarity and celebrate our collective movement towards addressing systemic issues locally”. Learn more>>

Makers Market at the Grove Arcade Now Open!
