Greetings,
Tucker's Restaurant is a local favorite known for its hearty breakfast plates and classic comfort foods but there is more to the story than what meets the eye. Tucker's was founded by urban Appalachians Ebscom and Maynie Tucker who came to Cincinnati from Russell Springs, Kentucky - like thousands of other Appalachians - looking for work in the 1940s. Learn more about their history and how the restaurant has adapted throughout the decades, including surviving a global pandemic in this week's blog post written by Mike Templeton.
In addition to Core Member Pauletta Hansel's creative writing workshops selling out, check out more upcoming virtual events hosted by the Homeless Coalition. Please also see the announcements section to learn more about the launch of local non-profit, A Picture's Worth's, newsletter and their mission.
Sincerely,
UACC

Pauletta Hansel to give creative writing classes
Although the virtual classes are all booked up this go around for The Poet's Craft Online Workshop, Core Member, writer, and Cincinnati's first Poet Laureate will be hosting virtual classes in August to help develop and fine-tune participants' craft in poetry and memoir writing.
"I love teaching creative writing in part because of deep community that develops when we write together, I feared that the switch to online would not allow the same kind of bonding, but so far the experience has been rich, and with the side benefit of local writers connecting virtually with writers from throughout the Appalachian region," says Pauletta.
Be on the lookout for more writing classes from Pauletta in the near future!
