ISSUE 18 | SEPTEMBER 1 | 2020

As we continue to listen and learn amid this pandemic, we are committed to providing you with upbeat, thought-provoking content worthy of your time. How are you staying connected, enriched, and inspired these days? Have tips or resources to share? Pass them along and we’ll include them in a future issue.
The song of the summer may be this viral video that’s helping school kids get ready for virtual learning. Two teachers from Monroe Comprehensive High School in Georgia have gone viral with their version of the hit song, “What’s Poppin’?” — in which they show off their dance and rap skills and enlist the cheer squad to add some pure fire TikTok dance moves. The goal was to get kids excited about the new school year and feel more comfortable about online classes. It certainly inspired us!
In Barcelona, 26-year-old Adrià Ballester sets up two chairs and a sign that reads: “Free Conversations!” All are welcome to sit and chat about anything they like, and Ballester posts photos — and sometimes startling revelations — from these conversations on Facebook and Instagram. During the pandemic, he started randompenpals.com, inviting users to “get a quarantine PenPal in 10 seconds.” You can even bone up on your foreign language skills with a pen pal who speaks your (desired) language. Becoming a source of comfort or helping people combat loneliness across the globe is a great way to get your groove on.
We love working with international development clients. Our workflow has always been digital, and now that Zoom is a household word, it’s easier than ever to work with anyone, anywhere in the world. AND we’re passionate about creating infographics — they involve organizing information for greater understanding, as well as creating something beautiful and engaging. So our recent annual report for the African Development Bank is a great example of what we can do. Their mission is to spur sustainable economic development and social progress in Africa, and we’re thrilled to be on their team!
“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.” — Rosa Parks
“And you ask ‘What if I fall?’ Oh but my darling, what if you fly?” — Erin Hanson
“Life shrinks or expands in proportion with one’s courage.” — Anaïs Nin

We could all use encouragement from great thinkers to keep our heads in the game as the curveballs of the pandemic come our way. These 100 quotes will help you summon your inner strength. Feel free to share these profusely wherever and whenever you can!
