Seeking Applications for Management Positions in Support of Member Sites

The National Science Foundation has funded the next phase of the Teen Science Café Network. This phase will feature a new management structure for support of member sites.  We seek five energetic individuals with experience in leading an informal science education program to serve in the role of Guide The Guides will share responsibility for recruiting and mentoring new member sites with close support from the National Resource Center. Each Guide will be responsible for supporting a sub-network consisting of ~one-fifth of the Network member sites.

Each sub-network includes two cohorts of new members each season. The Guide will onboard new members in the two cohorts to help them get started and on track toward a successful teen café program, while also providing ongoing support of established sites in the sub-network.

Primary responsibilities of the Guides are: recruitment and onboarding of new members, advancing the professional development of adult leaders, and strategically engaging members in the community of practice. The NRC-Guide management team will seek to become its own highly collaborative, mutually supporting community of practice.

Hires will be based on the qualifications and commitment of the applicant, demonstrated success in running a teen café program, and evidence of strong support of the Guide’s institution. We expect that the Guide will have connections to key social and professional networks from which to recruit new members.

The Guide’s institution will receive approximately half-time salary support, with no institutional overhead.

The ideal Guide will have the talent to inspire individual members of her/his sub-network to create and perfect their teen café programs, lead opportunities for professional development of sub-network members, and work collaboratively with other Guides and the NRC as a management team.
