[PR] Coronavirus Data for August 3, 2020

By The Advoc8te on Aug 04, 2020 11:45 am
BREAKINGNEWS.gif

Tuesday, August 4, 2020

(Washington, DC) - The District’s reported data for Monday, August 3, 2020 includes 85 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 12,398.

The District reported one additional COVID-19 related death.

  • 38-year-old male

Tragically, 587 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

Visit coronavirus.dc.gov/data for interactive data dashboards or to download COVID-19 data.

The community spread chart is subject to fluctuation because the data is based on symptom onset date. As national demand for testing increases and results take longer to come back in DC and across the country, DC Health has identified a need to increase the reporting lag time by four days to reduce volatility in the data. The most recent data reflects an increase in community spread. To ensure this graph accurately reflects the most recent data, the community spread count is being paused as these adjustments are made.

This Week's Open Mic At Anacostia Hosted by: Brandon Douglas
2004 Martin Luther King Jr Ave

Brandon Douglas is a product of the land known as Washington, DC. He began writing when he was 12, after discovering his ability to write raps. Through his teenage years poetry and hip-hop became one in his mind and soul as tools of self-expression. Since then he has been on the DC Youth Poetry Slam Team, opened for the late Gil Scott Heron, and performed at the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Festival, the Woolly Mammoth Theater, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Split This Rock Poetry Festival, the Phillips Collection, as well as the South African State Theatre. He facilitates writing, performance, and social justice workshops, and is a teaching artist organizing and coaching high school poetry clubs in DC with nonprofit org Split This Rock. With his artistry he works to guide others toward positivity, encouraging them to strive to be whole. He is constantly working to grow as an artist as well as a person, and he details this journey through spoken word in an honest way so that others may be moved to do the same.
