Thursday 11am-7pm
Friday and Saturday 11am-5pm
11am-12pm for vulnerable and at-risk people
Last entry 45 minutes before closing and don't forget this summer is 'Pay what you May' for essential workers and our friends working in arts and culture.
Please note that in the interest of public health and safety, all high-touch and interactive areas are closed. This includes Zinc Restaurant and the Children's Gallery.

Have you taken in our summer series with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra? Join us every Thursday and Saturday to enjoy these mini-concerts, included with your membership or AGA admission! Be sure to come early to explore our exhibitions then finish your day with a live performance from the ESO.
To help us manage capacities and keep everyone safe, pre-booking is required here.
If you would like to support the ESO, the musicians will be accepting donations onsite and every little bit helps. Online donations, and donations by cheque, will be eligible for a tax receipt. Thank you so much for your generosity!

250 AGA: An online design investigation by Amery Calvelli
Week five - “The relevant sections of the Code of Hammurabi.”
|
|
|
The Code of Hammurabi is a collection of legal precedents by King Hammurabi of Babylon who ruled from 1792 to 1750 B.C. The 282 laws were engraved onto the facade of a seven-foot-high stone monument and carved in cuneiform, one of the earliest Sumerian forms of writing. Michael Sorkin’s inclusion of the code in his essay of 250 things an architect should know speaks to the social and ethical connections that result from designing and building. This week, Adjunct Curator of the Poole Centre of Design, Amery Calvelli, discusses The Code of Hammurabi with Edmonton-based litigator Avnish Nanda whose law firm Nanda & Company is focused on public law disputes in Alberta and British Columbia.

August 8 | Weaver, Beaver, Bower (Part Three)
Materials Needed:
- Clay, plasticine or playdough
- Shallow water container
- Cloth or rag for hand wiping
- Cardboard, cut to 60x30cm
- Small rocks or pebbles
- Leaves or grasses
- Twigs
- Rolling pin or dowel
- Texture tools (utensils, buttons, combs, etc.)
- Two-three pieces of copy paper
- A dishtowel or broadcloth
- And finally, crayons or pencil crayons

Join our AGA educators for an afternoon of creation! Learn art tips and tricks while creating your own chalk drawing along the AGA sidewalks. This socially-distanced art activity is free to join and all materials are provided. We hope to see you at 1pm outside the AGA on Saturday, August 15 for Chalk N' Talk. Masks encouraged!

Apply to be Alberta’s Artist in Residence/Arts Ambassador
|
|
|
|
Alberta-based artists can apply to become the Government of Alberta's next resident artist to promote art and artists across the province. This program seeks to inspire innovation in the arts and to promote a wider understanding and appreciation of the arts and artists in Alberta.
Artists are encouraged to apply for this grant to become Alberta’s Artist in Residence/Arts Ambassador for a one-year term.
The deadline to apply to become the next Alberta Artist in Residence is Monday, August 24, 2020 at 11:59:59pm.
