San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control District Honored for Financial Transparency

San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association after submitting its Fiscal Year 2018/2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (available at https://www.smcmvcd.org/cafr) for review. The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment. There are more than 37,000 special districts in the United States, but only 289 have been awarded the Certificate of Achievement. San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District is one of only two vector control districts in the US to be awarded the Certificate of Achievement. The certificate program encourages participating governments to provide information that is accessible and understandable to the public.  It is awarded to agencies that have fully implemented the updated standards of the Government Accounting Standards Board and have received a clean financial audit.

“We’re thrilled to have achieved this award for the second year in a row”, said Richard Arrow, Finance Director at San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District. “Transparency is a priority for our district and I’m very proud of our staff’s work.”

San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District has also been recognized as a District of Distinction by the California Special Districts Leadership Foundation.
