We are in a defining time for race equality and anti racism, and there are so many ways that you can be part of the discussion and the change. The library is using literature as a vehicle for conversations about race, and we are holding our second virtual book discussion and community conversation soon.
The Newark Public Library, Wayne Action For Racial Equality (WARE) and Just Poets, Inc. would like to invite you to join us for a discussion of the book "Black Nature: Four Centuries of African American Nature Poetry". Facilitated by Celeste Schantz-Kovachi, the discussion will take place via Zoom on Saturday, October 17, 10:30am-12:00pm.
The literature-based series of community conversations on race is a continuation of a collaboration between WARE and the library. The library houses the WARE collection, a curated collection of fiction, nonfiction and poetry by and about people of color that carries on a WARE long-standing tradition of sharing books and other materials that underscore their mission of racial justice, advocacy and community engagement.
We want to be a part of the conversation and the effort to end racism and we hope you do too. Please join us.
