A Note From Your Pastor
Why Pray?

It was about a week ago that we received notice that Pastor Warren Conary had been released from the hospital and returned home after being in the ICU fighting COVID-19. Along with our church, many within the region, and denomination were praying for Pastor Warren and his entire household as they battled against COVID-19.

To some it may seem a futile effort to speak to a God we cannot see, or to bring our requests to Him, but we know that God is our fortress & deliverer. God says, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chron. 7:14. God is eager to hear our prayers, forgive, & heal us.

In Mark 11 after Jesus says even a tiny amount of faith can move mountains, he said,  "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." What a promise! We know that God answers prayer according to his unsearchable will. (Even Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane by saying, 'not my will, but your [God the Father's] will be done) God sometimes answers our prayers 'Yes', sometimes 'No', and sometimes 'wait'. But let us not become so cynical as to pass on prayer as God's means to bring about change in this world.

Rather, let us be encouraged by this miracle, this answer to prayer in the life of Pastor Warren. May we continue to pray for them, but may this also spur us to cry out to God for loved ones who are far from Christ. Let us go first and foremost to the Throne of Grace with any trouble that comes our way. Let us be a people of prayer. So, Why Pray? Because we pray to the Almighty God, Our Father, who hears us, loves us, and alone is able to give us life in Jesus' name!

Psalm 18:1-2,6

I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
    my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.
