Public Invited to “Equality at the Ballot Box” Virtual Book Talk 

BISMARCK, N.D. – The public is invited to “Equality at the Ballot Box” book talk at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, on the State Historical Society of North Dakota's Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The program is based on the recently released book, "Equality at the Ballot Box: Votes for Women on the Northern Great Plains," edited by Lori Ann Lahlum and Molly P. Rozum. Laulum will discuss the book's set of original essays that illuminate key aspects of the suffrage movement. These writings share previously untold stories of the women who traveled immense distances to win over a diverse, often contentious public. Lahlum will discuss the larger picture of woman suffrage, including the significance of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, school suffrage, and the anti-suffrage movement, and the impact this isolated, rural region had on women's rights nationwide. This program will continue to be available following the 2 p.m. premiere.

This program is part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota’s Sensational Sundays program. Sensational Sundays are free programs sponsored by the State Historical Society that include a variety of lectures, concerts, movies, and tours that provide engaging, educational, historic, and cultural information.
