Hello All,

Welcome to this weeks notices and prayer points.

Indoor, Outdoor and online Services

During August we will be having small services in the building and outdoor services too. The Sunday 10am online service will remain our main service.  In order to adhere to government guidelines numbers at the physical services will be limited and you will need to provide name and contact details for track and trace purposes.

You can book a place for the indoor services here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/114795430222
You can book a place for the outdoor services here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/115181117824

If you are in contact with church folk who are not online please let them know about these services and offer to sign them up if they would like to attend.  We don't want anyone to miss out!

For the indoor services we will need a welcomer to help people enter the building safely and monitor the entrance during the service.  If you would like to volunteer as a welcomer please contact Phil.

A full list of services for August is here:

Please note:
Outdoor and Indoor services require those attending to book a place via Eventbrite. (see above)
Outdoor services may not be ideal for children due to being in the open and near the car park.
Government guidance advises those over 70 or with underlying health conditions to avoid indoor gatherings and events.

Rhythm of Life

“As Christians, we believe Jesus should be at the heart of our rhythms of life, whatever our circumstances. This will have a far-reaching impact on our own wellbeing and the good of others – on our loving, living and learning.

I would like to invite you to join the diocesan ‘Rhythm of Life’ venture. This will involve individual commitments, accessing resources and mutual support. Some key areas will be given special attention: praying, encouraging, sharing, reflecting, celebrating, resting and creating.”

Sudan Appeal

Bishop Nick writes:
The coronavirus pandemic has caused massive disruption across the globe, including here in England. We need no reminder of the costs of this. Imagine, then, the impact on a country such as Sudan. Our brothers and sisters in our link dioceses there have no recourse to support for very basic needs other than external agencies. Their situation is more than challenging as the Church, under the leadership of Archbishop Ezekiel (with whom I speak frequently), seeks to feed the increasing number of poor, dispossessed and desperate people. The pandemic has led to rapid increase in unemployment and rampant inflation, pushing the purchase of even basic food beyond the reach of many people.
We have been linked with Sudan for around forty years. So, I am launching an emergency appeal right cross the Diocese of Leeds to support our brothers and sisters there. We are asking, on behalf of Archbishop Ezekiel, for funds for emergency food and supplies for those across the country who rely on the church for support or survival. The need is urgent and is increasing in severity.

Children and Youth

Our Sunday groups take a break over the summer and we’ll be thinking, planning and praying during that time about what church, and especially the children’s and youth groups, might be like in September.

I’d love to hear from children, young people and their families about what you have found helpful in the past few months and any ideas or suggestions that you might have for the future. You can contact me at childrenandyouth@andysonline.org

Coffee Chat

Mike Langford writes:

We have added a fun element to the coffee time chat. After the first 10 minutes while everyone joins we will then split out into separate groups of 3 or 4 just like in coffee at "normal church". This is an exciting addition as you will get to meet other people in church and have a chat with them rather than just a relay of news of what you have done during the week. We need as many people as possible to join this as we are beginning to forget who is in our church fellowship. We might even change the groups round after 10 minutes or so. Hope to see you on Sunday.

This Weeks Prayer Points

Prayer Points:

Turkey: President Erdogan has been in power for 15 years and promised to leave when the Turks said ”enough”. A media campaign saying: “enough” has been launched. Pray that this does not lead to violent reprisals and pray for wisdom for Christians, who sometimes face persecution. Recently the famous former church in Istanbul which had been turned into a museum, has been changed for use as a mosque, with pictures of Jesus and Mary being covered up during Islamic worship.

Israel/Lebanon: There have been clashes on the Golan Heights between Israel and Hezbollah, the extremist organisation which wields great power in Lebanon. Continue prayer for stability. Lebanon is still very fragile economically. Continue prayer for Christians there.

Iran: Pray for Kylie Moore Gilbert, a young British/Australian, accused of spying, who has recently been transferred to a prison in the middle of the desert. She has been a prisoner since 2018. Also remember Christians imprisoned for their faith.

Hong Kong/China: Carrie Lam has warned that the recent spike in corona virus in Hong Kong may leave the hospitals at breaking point. Four students have been arrested under the new law which people were protesting about. Pray for the churches at this time.

Spain: Pray for Mike and Julie Jowett who have been unable to have any guests at their retreat centre since the beginning of  the year and are suffering economically. Ask for the Lord’s provision.
India: Continue prayer for Janaki and her team and pray for all who are suffering from the virus as the cases continue to increase.

E.Africa: Pray for those in Kenya, Uganda, Somalia and Sudan who are facing devastation of their harvest because of locusts. These are expected to increase in numbers. Pray for the Lord’s intervention.

South Sudan/Yemen: Pray for an end to conflict which is leading to starvation. Ask for help to reach those in need.

Switzerland: Give thanks that the Prices are able to have a week’s break in the Alps with Fiona’s parents before their move to Belgium. Praise God that someone will be taking over Adrian’s work with the students in Geneva University.

Gran Canaria: Pray for Paula and Jo as the island is affected by the travel ban. Pray for on-going provision and opportunities to share the Lord’s love with locals.

S.Africa: Continue prayer for the Nobbs in Durban and Ghila and Jerome in Knysna. Ask for protection and provision for their work as the virus escalates.

International Y.F.C: Pray for Martin and Sam as they resource staff in many countries, especially as they reach out to young people who would have been going to holiday camps this summer and cannot now go.

British Youth for Christ: Continue prayer for Neil as he directs the work and ask for energy for staff as they work online with programmes for young people here.
Pray for Lucy waiting to hear if her Y.W.A.M. D.T.S. in Mexico is going ahead in September, and Jake and Grace in the U.S.A. Jake still needs his work permit documents and travel permit.

U.K: Continue prayer for the government that they will be fulfilling the Lord’s will for our nation. Ask that as a nation we will seek Him and return to our Christian roots.

Local: Pray for all in our fellowship who are ill at this time and for those close to them. Continue prayer for the Bangas and give thanks for Sam and Haley’s recent engagement. Pray for others who are engaged and have had to change wedding plans. Ask for wisdom for Phil, Sally and the P.C.C., especially relating to changes in our services.

Thanks,  Tina
