COVID-19
We remain very busy keeping up with new areas of work around our COVID-19 campaign: exposing flaws in our education policies and legal frameworks and monitoring the impact of remote learning on disabled pupils and students. Our research has uncovered issues for families and disabled students with remote learning alongside SEND provision. Many disabled pupils and students have had no education for four months because they’re unable to access remote learning opportunities or necessary alternative curriculum activities. ALLFIE is surprised by the lack of awareness education institutions have about the regulatory framework governing website accessibility standards.
The Human Rights and Equality Network have commissioned us to write a case study about disabled pupils’ and students’ experiences of remote education in an equalities and human rights framework, which we'll publish on the website.

ALLFIE’s COVID-19 Education Survey
The evidence you helped us collect in our survey is informing our ongoing work during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have written submissions to three Parliamentary inquiries:
- The Education Select Committee’s “The impact of COVID-19 on education and children’s services”
- The Women and Equalities Committee’s “Unequal impact? Coronavirus, disability and access to services”
- Joint Committee on Human Right’s “The Government’s response to COVID-19: human rights implications”
Our submissions will be made available on the website after the Parliamentary Committees have published them on theirs. We will also publish our own report and invite our friends and colleagues to join us for a webinar discussion.

Inclusion Champions
We are in the process of meeting professionals working with families of disabled children and young people, laying foundations to support more joint work with Disabled Peoples Organisations and service providers for disabled young people. We have moved all face-to-face meetings and events to virtual platforms and continue to address how to make our new way of working accessible and interactive for the foreseeable future.
We'll announce when the office is reopening and our secure arrangements.
