Law For All Podcast
Legal Aid Queensland is encouraging people to learn to recognise the signs of financial control, one of the more subtle forms of domestic and family violence.
Like all forms of domestic violence, financial control happens across all ages, genders, suburbs, social and cultural groups.
Legal Aid Queensland has created a new podcast, "Law For All", in which consumer law advocates Paul Holmes and Loretta Kreet put financial financial control in the spotlight.
Volunteering Sunshine Coast is proud to be partnering with Sunshine Coast Council, Nambour Community Centre, Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce, Solbar, TAFE Queensland and Services Australia to deliver the Migrant Work Ready Program, empowering migrants in finding employment.
Now in its third year, the Migrant Work Ready Program is an eight-week course offering practical tips from professional experts, community organisations and business owners on how to prepare for the local job market.
Learn about Australian work culture, resume writing, job hunting, speaking with confidence, interview skills, how to network and how to maintain a positive mindset.
Guest speakers from multicultural backgrounds will share their real-life success stories from work and business.
Workshops and networking opportunities with professionals and business owners to help prepare you for the local job market.
Participants must meet the following criteria:
Commit to the nine week program
Be a resident of the Sunshine Coast
Be unemployed and actively looking for work
Not have previously completed the program
Submit an expression of interest form by Friday 7 August at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/migrantworkprogram
Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee you a place in the program. Applicants will be advised if they have been successful by Friday 21 August.

Blue Card System Update
Important changes are coming to the Blue Card system which will take effect from Monday 31 August 2020.
The new laws will apply to organisations, paid workers, business operators and volunteers. These changes will strengthen and streamline the blue card system.
Located in the spectacular Kon-Tiki Business Centre in the heart of the Maroochydore CBD, The Hive features attractive offices, co-working space and meeting space that combines functionality with high speed internet, reception and more to complement your business.
The Hive now has available two serviced offices and six co-working desks.
The Hive Offices
The Hive has a selection of offices to enable your business to create a permanent space without being locked into leasing terms and expenses. We also help you avoid the usual operational costs and outgoings of running an office. Simply move in and start working.
These secure, lockable offices include:
Desks, chairs and lockable mobile draws.
Free internet, printing and coffee.

The Hive Co-Working Desks
The Hive's acoustic pods will reduce distractions and help you focus on your work.
The pod was developed in collaboration with the award winning firm, Revolution Fibres, and features PhonixTM nanofibre - an acoustic substrate designed to enhance the absorptive features of the soft walls. Using thousands of layers of nanofibre in a proprietary composite, the pod improves passive acoustic performance.
The Hive's pods are in vibrant colours, and feature internally routed cable management with power and data solutions built into the work surface.
The Hive has a range of workstations available. Features include, acoustic and privacy screens, power and data points for wired or WiFi connectivity available.
