1962 Poll of Jewish Residents
of Amsterdam
In the wake of WWII, the Gallup-affiliated Netherlands Institute of Public Opinion (NIPO) began a polling series of the Dutch population’s post-war conditions and attitudes. A 1962 poll from this series offers the opinions of 210 Jewish residents of Amsterdam on a variety of subjects. Converted from column binary format, these face-to-face interviews delve into a fascinating range of topics, including Antisemitism in the Netherlands, the future of the Jewish community in their country, and household habits and practices. If you are interested in this or similar studies, please contact Data Services to learn what is available.

USIA Digital Report Collection

The United States Information Agency (USIA) digital report collection – a Roper Center exclusive - features 720 reports based on USIA survey work from the years 1946-1981, created for the use of U.S. State Department agency officials.  Each of the individual reports has been scanned into PDF format, and includes all pages, cover to cover, and all text, charts, and maps.  Some of the reports have hand-written notes in the margins from the analysts who received the reports. It is a singular digital collection that complements the associated USIA Survey dataset collection already available through the Roper Center archive. After you locate reports you are interested in, please email Data Services to get access.

Roper Center Supports Black Lives Matter

As we reflect on racism and anti-racism, the Roper Center has identified and is making available all public opinion surveys of Black Americans in the Roper data archive. We highlight these surveys of Black Americans, which span from 1945 to 2020, in order to remember and amplify the voices of these individuals. We are also making more than eight decades of public opinion data on how the U.S. public views Black America available. These data provide historical insight into how racial attitudes have changed in the United States and how the public currently views topics such as police brutality, race relations, and Black Lives Matter. We are making all of the data in the Say Their Names, Hear Their Voices collection freely available to the public on request. If you are not a Roper Center member, contact Data Services to request access.
