Duke One Health Team Member Heads to Veterinary School
 
One Health team member, Kara Kochek, will begin her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree at Long Island University's College of Veterinary Medicine this fall. Kara’s interests include food safety, large animal medicine, antibiotic resistance, and infectious/zoonotic diseases. Her time at Duke has helped her improve her knowledge and understanding of the importance of One Health, and she hopes to use this within her veterinary career. Congratulations, Kara!
Duke One Health Team Member Graduates and Transitions to Full Time Global Health Work

One Health team member, Anfal Abdelgadir (better known as Fulla), is transitioning from graduate student to full-time global health work this fall!  She is looking at positions in the Research Triangle area. Fulla graduated from Duke University’s Global Health Master’s program in May of 2020, and has a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Khartoum, Sudan. Prior to starting her Master’s program, Fulla worked at a virology lab in Sudan to gain laboratory experience specifically in molecular diagnostic techniques. Her research interests include emerging infectious diseases, environmental microbiology and oral virology.

Anfal Abdelgadir (left), Emily Robie, MSc (middle), amd Kara Kochek (right) serve as the editors of Duke One Health Team News. Anfal is a rising second-year master's student at the Duke Global Health Institute. Emily graduated from the Duke Global Health Institute in May 2019 and is currently working as a research analyst for the One Health Team at Duke University. Kara graduated from Gillings School of Global Public Health in December 2019 and is also currently working as a research analyst for the One Health Team at Duke University.
