Dues

UPDATE: Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the cancellation of any programming (like guest instructors and outings), dues for the upcoming 2020-2021 fiscal year will be reduced to $15 (normally they are $20) per year. Our fiscal year restarts in October, so please bring your payment to an upcoming meeting or mail a check to Jackie if you'd like to renew. Your support will allow our group to add more classes, vendors, and field trips to our calendar, once we are able to offer them. Please continue to spread the word about the guild to increase our membership, which will benefit us all!  If you need more Guild business cards to distribute, ask one of the officers for more.

We continue forward on projects to nourish both our needs and expressions of kindness to others. Hope you join us for September 2020 KAL supporting one of Maine’s local pattern designers. This 8 week KAL is filled with camaraderie, raffles, and kindness.

Jen Steingass is our selected local designer for our annual Fall2020 KAL.
Founder of Knit.Love.Wool, her designs are timeless. Her patterns are easily available on Ravelry. Some members have been wearing her work already!

Knitting for a cause:

We are still accepting rectangles for Warm up America (we will keep collecting until December 5th).

Warm up America is a non-profit organization that helps distribute knitted items (blankets, hats, mittens) to homeless people across the country. For this specific project, they are looking for knitted 7” x 9” rectangles that can later be assembled into afghans.
So they are easily cleaned, it is important these squares be knitted with acrylic as the primary fiber, and they suggest worsted weight.
Need ideas for your knitted squares? Here is the website for Warm Up America, with 8 easy designs suggestions:

Every square counts! They come in from all over the country and get made into blankets of various sizes by a team of volunteers. With so many talented knitters in the Guild, we should be able to give them plenty of squares to work with.

Our initial mailing to WUA was 180 squares, so please keep them coming!  We still have plenty of worsted weight yarn donated earlier this year so please continue to take some to make more squares.  Their small size makes them a great way to test out new stitches.
The farm stand is open for the season:
Wed, Thurs, Fri 11-6:30 and Sat 9-3
Windham Farmers Market Saturdays 8:30-12:30
