Greetings on this the last Flashback Friday 31st July 2020. Firstly I hope everyone is safe in their iSOULated zones. The UK government have just issued some random lockdown measures in the Manchester region as from midnight last night. It's disruptive but we trust it is necessary so stay safe all in that part of the world.
'Rodney P's Jazz Funk' documentary was shown last week and the overwhelming conclusion going by the feedback on social media is that this previously untold story of the jazz funk movement told primarily from the first and second generation Black UK Windrush perspective, was very well received.
Thanks for the kind words received regarding my participation, which was a concern of how one would be portrayed, due to how these programs are edited. There was a huge amount of history fitted into an hour with some facts sadly left out, but fingers and toes are being crossed for a part two, but you can catch up again till the end of August 2020. The previously shown 'The Last Pirates Britain's Rebel DJs' documentary also hosted by Rodney P is on BBC4 tonight 10pm in case you missed it first time around.
Saving the best till last, we are pleased to say that next week the 14th anniversary issue of The Soul Survivors Magazine for August and September will be available both on line and with a limited print run for our subscribers and a those who wish to purchase the hard copy. We have a few new adverts alongside some snippets of interviews we've showcased over the past 14 years in light of highlighting their connection with black music. It is also that time of year where we celebrate Jamaica Independence so I hope you like the topical and colourful front cover

Our celebratory 14th anniversary issue features interview segments from various artists who give an insight to how importantly they are connected to black music.
