Dear Supporters

It’s been a while since we’ve been in contact and we hope things are going well for you. We had a fantastic response to our call to vote about the Heatons Climate Action Festival and as a result we have a plan!

HEATONS CLIMATE ACTION FESTIVAL

The on-line festival will be over the two weekends 12/13th and 19/20th September 2020.  Please keep your eyes open for more information at www.SLHeatons.org .

You can help us to spread the word about the festival.  Please forward this newsletter to anyone you think may be interested, and they can sign up to receive the newsletter at
https://www.slheatons.org/contact-us/.  People can also find us on social media, and if anyone can re-share our posts there, that would be great. We have a new Facebook page for the festival, you can find the link below.

NEW ON THE SLH WEBSITE

We’ve been adding more to our website so please look at new blogs:
  • Fallowfield Loop walk here
  • Walk to the Meadow in Heaton Chapel here
  • Plants to attract wildlife to your garden - here
  • The Edible Garden, a short video about growing things in your garden to eat all through the year here
We also came across My Wild Garden-another great website with lots of good garden ideas for all the family:  https://www.lancswt.org.uk/my-wild-garden

CYCLING

We know some of you are missing our usual family cycle rides that happen each summer. But if you are doing cycle rides with families or small groups, you might like to check out
https://www.sustrans.org.uk/ for routes, maps tips and cycling activities.

If you want to find out how to ride safely around the Heatons, or do you need help on finding quiet routes away from the A6, TfGM have restarted their free 1-2-1 and Family cycle training sessions. All sessions are tailored to your personal requirements - details can be found here:
https://tfgm.com/cycling/training

And lastly on cycling matters-have your say on the consultation set up by the Mayoral Challenge Fund and Manchester City Council to improve the Fallowfield Loop: https://fallowfieldloopmap.commonplace.is/about

KEEP IN TOUCH

Please keep up with us on social media.
You can get in contact with us also through info@slheatons.org

The SLH meetings continue to be via ZOOM, and are now on Saturday mornings or a weekday evening. Please contact us beforehand at info@SLHeatons.org if you would like to join in, and we will send you the link. Everyone is welcome.
