Library News
October 2020
Hello from Library & Knowledge Services at East Kent Hospitals!

Now that all of our libraries are back up and running once more, we thought we'd give you an update on our service, and then catch you up on some news, including how you can access the latest addition to our resources, Oxford Handbook ebooks online.
Service update
24-Hour Access is back!
As you may have been aware, we suspended 24-hour access to our libraries when we reopened in early July, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

We have carefully examined our safety protocols and are pleased to announce that we have now enabled 24-Hour Access once more across our three libraries.
  • On weekdays, the doors at each library will lock at 17:00 and unlock at 08:00.
  • Outside of these hours, and at all times during weekends, you will need a 24-Hour Access Keyfob.
Staff and students requiring access to the library at William Harvey Hospital  also have the option of getting their SmartCard enabled.

Call in to your site library and we will loan a keyfob to your Library Account. This will be valid for the duration of your Library Membership, after which you can either renew or return.
Remote sessions
It's Learning at Work Week this week - what better time to get some new searching skills under your belt?

We're now available remotely to demonstrate such things as : finding out if you have access to a journal, quick ways to find articles online, or find ebooks in your specialty.
This is currently only available for staff and students at East Kent Hospitals Trust, via Cisco Jabber and Cisco Webex where required. Please contact your site library to find out more.

We now offer access to some of the most recent editions of the Oxford Handbook series online.
