Instructions on Writing Your Comment Letter in as Little as 15 Minutes!

Commenting on the Draft EIS for the LPP and NCH just got easier

A big “Thank You” to all of you who are writing comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statements for the Lake Powell Pipeline and the Northern Corridor Highway.  This is such a valuable service to our Southwest Utah community.

We have heard from a number of you requesting additional guidance on exactly how to write a comment.  We have quickly responded and posted step by step instructions on our website.  For your convenience, these instructions are reprinted below.

A reminder: LPP comments must be submitted by September 8 and NCH comments by September 10, 40/42 days from today!

Thanks for your commitment to stopping these damaging projects.

Instructions on Writing Your Comment Letter in as Little as 15 Minutes!

You will be moving back and forth between the CSU website and an email you will create using these instructions.
  1. Open your email program and start a new email.
       2. On your email:
  • Paste this email address: "BLM_UT_NorthernCorridor@blm.gov" into the “To:” line.
  • In the “Subject line” type: "Comment on the Northern Corridor Highway Draft Environmental Impact Statement"
  • Begin the body of the email with "Dear Bureau of Land Management:"
  1. Go to the appropriate CSU Commenting Guidance web page for the project you want to comment on:  For the NCH click here.  For the LPP click here.
  1. Review the menu of the nine commenting issues/topics listed for the project you have selected. Select one by clicking on the blue issue/topic number.
  1. You can copy the entire Issue page or the specific bullet points on the page that are of interest to you.
  1. Return to your email and paste what you copied into the body of your email.
  1. Review all the information you have pasted into your email. Now delete unneeded/unwanted language, edit, rearrange, and add personal comments to create a comment in your own language. This is the step where you make the letter more individualized which improves the effectiveness of the letter with the Bureau of Land Management or Bureau of Reclamation..
  1. Don’t feel like you have to add a second topic. Writing on one topic is acceptable and will make a difference
  1. Close with your name and hit Send!
