Notice of south side closure in late August
|
|
Contra Costa Water District will be conducting critical road work on Los Vaqueros Road during the month of August. This will require closure of the south side of the Los Vaqueros Watershed for a three day period. Specific dates to be determined. More information to follow. The north side of the watershed will be open during that time. We appreciate your patience. Call 925-588-5561 with questions about the temporary closure. Check for updates on our website.

No body contact with the water
While we understand that summertime temperatures at the watershed can get warm, keep in mind that there's no swimming, wading, floating, or body contact of any kind allowed in the Los Vaqueros Reservoir. For your safety and to preserve water quality in the reservoir, please stay out of the water.

Getting to Los Vaqueros
We've heard from some visitors that their GPS or Google Maps don't always show them the accurate location for the south side entrance to the watershed. If you're unsure whether you're in the right place, look for our sign (pictured right) welcoming visitors to the watershed. Also, remember to follow the speed limit on all watershed roads. There are hikers, wildlife, and other vehicles -- so let's all look out for each other out there.

COVID-19 Precautions
Thank you for continuing to wear masks and social distance. Here is a full list of COVID-19 safety rules and guidelines while at the watershed. Your cooperation helps everyone stay safe! Call the Marina at 925-371-2628 with questions.

All Trails Currently Open
|
|
The Los Vaqueros Watershed is a year-round home (and sometimes vacation home) for Golden Eagles. February through June is their typical nesting time, when we close trails to give them space. This year, nesting lasted well into July, and now we're happy to report that five eaglets successfully fledged. And now, all trails are open. Check out our trails map (PDF) to plan your next visit to hike, bike, or horseback ride.
