I love paths to the beach!

Fun Focal Sentiment Cards

I recently purchased a bunch of coastal stamps and brought them to Florida.  I was experiencing an odd creative block since I arrived, which is not my normal.  Usually, I live in my art space, especially if I'm here by myself.  Thankfully, the E-News was looming, so I got to it yesterday.

My theme this week was to begin with regular cardstock, paint with chalks and use a large focal sentiment.    Obviously, I love using this chalk technique and I hope you have taken time to experiment as well.

The first card is a Dina Wakley Scribbly Fishies (Ranger) stamp set that I've had for awhile.  I wanted it to be super CAS.  I like that I added Stickles for little air bubbles.

The next card used diecuts Hello Summer (Honey Bee) on watercolor paper that were painted with Koi paints.  The background was washed with chalks and water.
Here I stamped the palm trees first (SU) with Distress Inks and then added the chalk watercolor wash in the background.  The diecut flamingo (Stamps of Life) was from a scrap piece of background paper. (Don't throw those failures away!)  Final step was to stamp the main focal image (Honey Bee).
This wonky sketchy flamingo and palm tree were doodled on a whim.  The flamingo body was just a circular scribble.  Everything on this card was chalk watercolor.  Glitter was added to the body to pretty it up.  The large focal sentiment helped ground the card.  I think I want to play around more with doodling flamingos!
I was again motivated to create a super CAS card.  Recently on Pinterest, I saw a pin where someone painted/decorated envelopes along with the cards.  This card is inspired by that pin!  Knowing what you know about collage from last week, can you tell me why there's no sentiment?  What else can you tell me about the background knowing what you know?  I did add the Stickles bubbles that I thought looked cute.  Background is chalk and water.  Images are Dina Wakley Sketchy Fishies (Ranger).

I sure hope you get to craft some cards this week!  I'd love to see what you're up to!

Have a pleasant week!

XOXO
