Timeless Happenings

AUGUST What's Happening...

Happy August Timeless!

Summer is in full swing and it feels so good to be back at Timeless with the sun shining, our garage doors wide open, and everyone working so hard getting stronger!  I love the energy that is back in the box and in fitness!  Our community is coming back strong both in-house and Zoom!

Everyone has done an exceptional job at adhering to all CDC & Timeless protocols with regards to social distancing, wearing of masks, daily temperature checks, consistently cleaning, mindfulness while interacting, and especially being respectful of others safety, if you have traveled or not feeling well.

As you know, we cannot get "comfortable" in any of these areas. Please do not put me or Timeless in a position that I'd have to close down because someone may feel that the rules don't apply to their situation.  There is no grey area and ZERO wiggle room. Timeless cannot withstand another closure because someone has traveled to a high risk area or who has someone at home sick, but decides they're "fine" to come in.  Thank you so much for understanding and supporting Timeless in our journey of continued health!

YES you can be re-exposed, YES there's an incubation period, YES you can be positive with no symptoms, YES if you travel to a high risk area you cannot come to Timeless for 14 days (see guidelines), and YES stay home if you're not feeling well or someone in your family/home is not feeling well.  Together lets keep doing what we love here because we understand "standards" as with CF, so should we with Covid 19.

I have attached the NEW Travel Guidelines effective: August 1, 2020. Please read this now.
https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-travel-order

Let's ALL keep doing all the right things every day!  Everyone has been so diligent and supportive! Here are a few Timeless REMINDERS:
  • All Timeless members & staff MUST wear Masks 100% of the time, when not in a station.
  • DO NOT COME to class if you have had a fever in past 48 hours or any family member has not been feeling well.
  • DO NOT COME to class if you've had any contact with a known case of Covid 19 in past 14 days. No exceptions.
  • DO NOT COME to class if you feel any Covid 19 type symptoms.  Better to be safe.
  • DO NOT COME to class if you have traveled outside of New England to any of the high risk areas. You MUST quarantine 14 days. even if you have been tested. This is for the safety of everyone and remember, you'd want someone to do it for you too. Even tested prior to re-entry doesn't protect you from being exposed on a plane or other. Zoom or home WODs are available to you every day!
  • DO NOT COME to class if you have not had a Covid 19 test taken at least 72 hours prior to your arrival back in Massachusetts from a high risk state. Also if you are currently waiting for a test result, please stay home.  (see guidelines).
  • Let's continue to do a great job keeping social distance while at the gym.
  • DO NOT COME to class if you are in a job that is high risk and you've had a co-worker or someone in your department who recently tested positive for Covid 19. Use your best judgement and know we offer Zoom Workouts every day for you! I bad decision can close down Timeless.
  • THANK YOU EVERYONE!  Keep up the amazing work on cleaning all your equipment, wiping down the rig, and upkeep with your stations daily.
These are very difficult times for everyone and some of us have felt the loss very close to home. Timeless has the ability to stay open and stay healthy until a vaccine is here.  Together we CAN get through this!

Sincerely,
MC

------OUR STORY------

On August 6, 2011, a tragedy shook the military community and Americans everywhere. In a single instance, America lost 30 military service members, many of whom were members of the Navy SEAL community—and one military K9– when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was downed in Afghanistan.

In the wake of the unimaginable tragedy, a mission was born. Following the downing of Extortion 17, a fundraising WOD—hosted at more than 430 gyms around the country with more than 10,000 participants—raised $300,000 over a four-week period to support the 30 families affected. This prompted the organizers to create 31Heroes to remember our fallen heroes and take care of their loved ones.

Humbled by the massive response and inspired by the impact on the families of these heroes, 31Heroes recognized an opportunity to reach even more families. Soon, new events and WODs were organized with the help of a growing network of passionate volunteers.

Today, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we assist athletes and event organizers around the country with tools and resources to continue the legacy of selflessness and comradery of August 6, 2011.

Through strategic alliances with other organizations we can ensure that all proceeds directly fund programs that support service members and their families, including the Navy SEAL community.

Since our first event in 2011, more than $1.5 million has been given back to our nation’s heroes and their families through grant-making opportunities and partnership programs. In 2015, 31Heroes launched the initiative to support treatment for veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or Traumatic Brain Injury.

They’ve left behind more than just memories. They’ve given us a legacy to honor. Together, we can ensure the mission to honor the fallen lives on and veterans are not forgotten when they return home.

MEMBER OF THE MONTH: AUGUST 2020

SAM HANSOM

Sam Hansom stopped by Timeless one afternoon, late November 2019, with his father.  Sam had set goals he wanted to accomplish and was looking for the right place to accomplish them.  I remember the tour well and was hoping Sam would take a chance on Timeless!  He did and joined Timeless!
1. How long have your been doing CrossFit at Timeless?

I have been a Timeless member since December 27th 2019.

2. What are some of your goals when you started CrossFit?
When I initially started CrossFit I was looking to loose weight and get in good enough shape to passs the law enforcement physical fitness test.  ost importantly to feel happy and healthy.
3. How has Timeless helped you reach those goals?
The coaches at Timeless helped me customize my experience in a way that meant no matter what my physical fitness and confidence levels were, that I was still able to workout and complete the workouts.  Also, just as importantly, the other members of Timeless have been super supportive and motivational! They have always made me feel welcome, while pushing me to stay competitive and achieve my goals.
4. What is your favorite part about coming to Timeless?
Honestly, there is nothing more rewarding than looking at a workout, believing there is no way you are going to be able to complete it, then smashing every round and rep.  Timeless provides an environment that promotes success and rejects quitting.  This helped me develop not only physical but mental toughness.
5. What advice would you give to someone looking to begin CrossFit classes at Timeless
"Just keep moving", one of the most simple but greatest quotes I heard when I first started.  No matter your fitness level, goals, abilities, injuries, weaknesses....Just keep moving.  No one will shame you for slowing it down, taking each workout at your own pace.
6. Please share your goals and what you have accomplished!
Back in December of 2019, I weighed in at approximately 350 lbs, as of this week, I am down to 270 lbs.  My 1.5 mile run decreased 4 minutes, my push-ups and sit-ups increased significantly.  I recently passed a police fitness test, that back in October 2019, I failed.  I feel significantly happier, healthier, and stronger.  Timeless was a catalyst for change in my life, I hope to continue on my path of weight loss and become a police officer very soon.
My goals for the future are to become a police officer like I said, continue to work on my fitness, so I can hopefully some day make a specialized team.  My goal weight is between 200-220 lbs. JUST HAVE TO KEEP MOVING!
