We made it to August after a summer like no other! That's something to celebrate - remember, the little things always count - and add up!
We've been back at it for two months now and we're grateful for you and your patience with us as we worked through new protocols and schedules, and have made some adjustments as needed - which we'll continue to do - and we want to hear from you to do so!

Just a friendly reminder that while in the salon, masks are required and they must cover both your nose and mouth. If you are struggling with mask policies for health reasons, please reach out before your appointment so that we can make accommodations in advance of your time with us. Transform Your Hair with NEW Botanical Repair!

It’s been such an amazing ride being back to work these last 2 months. One common complaint and challenge I’ve noticed is that most of my guests are experiencing more breakage and rough ends. This could be due to the necessity for box color, spending more time outdoors, or just overall lack of attention to our hair from being quarantined. Have no fear because Aveda, being the amazing company that they are, has been working on a fantastic new product line! Introducing the NEW Botanical Repair System!
This new patented technology not only repairs bonds from inside the cortex but also nourishes the cuticle and protects the F-layer of the hair (this is the outermost layer of the hair strand that is affected by humidity and water).
We are all familiar with all the ways in which we damage our hair from chemical services, to blow drying. Not only will you be able to repair your hair at home with our new retail line that includes a strengthening shampoo, strengthening conditioner, light strengthening masque, rich strengthening masque, and strengthening leave in treatment but also during your services in the salon! These products are designed for all hair types and can be customized for your needs.

Fight Humidity with My Favorite Products!

During the summer my hair tends to get frizzy from the humidity and also dry on the ends from being outside in the elements more often! I have three products that I like to use on a daily basis to help combat these issues. The three Aveda products I can't live without are:
- Smooth Infusion Style-Prep
- Brilliant Damage Control
- Light Elements Defining Whip
I put these products in my hair while its still damp after cleansing and conditioning. To help keep my hair more healthy, I've been letting my hair air dry rather than apply heat. Also, I've been using a wide tooth comb to work in these products through my hair in order to minimize breakage. Once I put these three products in, I am good to go for the rest of the day!
Smooth Infusion Style-Prep is a blend derived from organic aloe, maize, and guar bean— which helps create a smooth surface on hair. I like to work a small amount of this product in my hands and apply it through damp hair.
I spray Brilliant Damage Control liberally on my hair to help detangle—this product helps protect the hair from thermal styling damage, UV rays, and breakage.
I use a small amount of Light Elements Defining Whip by working it into my hands and then I apply it on my root area to help smooth down any flyaways. You can put this product in damp or dry hair. I like this product because it has a light texture that doesn't add weight or stickiness.

Cleanse & Hydrate with Creme Cleansing Oils

Between hand sanitizers and washing with hot water and soap - we know your hands and beyond may be feeling clean, but a little on the dry side. Luckily, Aveda is here to help! We have some awesome products in stock that will lead your skin to feeling a little extra soothed and moisturized.
Creme Cleansing Oils: We love the Shampure, Cherry Almond, and Rosemary Mint Hand and Body Washes. Sometimes, our skin needs a little extra nourishment while it’s being cleansed. For this, we suggest the Stress-Fix and Beautifying Creme Cleansing Oils. Both cleanse skin and remove impurities gently while nourishing the surface with plant oils.
Stress-Fix is a blend of certified organic babassu and sunflower seeds oil with a lavender, lavandin, and clary sage aroma that is clinically proven to reduce stress. Beautifying is a blend of organic olive, soy, and sunflower oils, with an aroma made up of organic rosemary, lavender, and bergamot. Skin is left clean and soft to the touch!
We can never give the Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme enough love. If you’re looking to up the moisture you’re getting from Hand Relief, we recommend mixing in some composition oil (check out Karen's favorite combo in her article, below). This adds a little extra boost of softness for hands that need a little extra care without leaving a greasy residue. The awesome part about these composition oils is that they are conveniently sized and can be carried with you in a bag - along with the travel size Hand Relief! In case you didn’t know - we do have the Hand Relief available in travel sizes. This is perfect for squeezing in next to your on-the-go hand sanitizer.

Odd Couples: Mix and Match Aveda Products

Ever wonder what it would be like to take an Aveda product from one product line and then use it with another? I do - and I do it all the time! I put together a quick list of some of my recent favorites that I’d like to share with you. And, on second thought - the combos aren’t that odd at all, as Aveda products are interchangeable and versatile - plus - aroma profiles are often complementary and “play nice with others” when you mix them up a bit!
- SunCare Hair and Body Wash & Rosemary Mint Body Lotion
Right now, I’ve chosen to stay out of the gym, so I’m spending a good amount of time outside jogging or walking for the cardio portion of my workout. During the hot summer months I love to use SunCare Hair and Body Wash. I love its bright, summery aroma and the way it cleanses my skin. It’s a pearly cleanser so it gently but effectively cleanses my skin without stripping away moisturization - it's great at removing salt build-up after plenty of cardio in the heat and sun.
After my cleansing, I apply Rosemary Mint Body Body Lotion. Rosemary Mint has always been a favorite of mine, but during the summer, I’m addicted to it. Its lightweight texture is perfect for summer - and it delivers the perfect amount of moisturization without the heaviness. Packed with organic peppermint, it cools the skin and leaves behind (only after initial application) a tingling sensation. It’s my summer go-to moisturizer, hands down!
- Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme & Shampure Composition Oil
Olivia and I have the same affinity for Hand Relief! Hand Relief is a staple in my body care routine, and has been for a long time! It’s a very rich creme that intensely moisturizes your hands without being greasy or heavy. I use it every time I wash my hands, and then kick it up a notch by adding just a drop of Shampure Composition Oil for extra nourishment. This oil is a multi-tasker - great for scalp, body, hands (especially cuticles), and feet.
- Illumination Petal Essence Single Eye Color & Inner Light Mineral Tinted Moisture
Mix your foundation with eye shadow? Yes! What you get with the combo is a great highlighter for cheekbones and the tip of your nose. Using a smaller drop of Inner Light Mineral Tinted Moisture in your shade, scrape in (using a little wooden spatula or even the back of your fingernail) Illumination Single Essence Single Eye Color, mix gently, and voila! You have an instant face highlighter. Mix a bit of a bigger amount to use on legs or arms - and then buff in with a kabuki-style brush, like Aveda’s Inner Light Foundation Brush. Show your glow!
- BONUS! Use one of our beautiful, shimmery Feed My Lips Lip Gloss Toppers as a highlighter as well! Simply take a small amount of your favorite one - Rose Gold Shimmer, Gold Shimmer, or Silver Shimmer, and gently dab and blend on your cheek bones for a little extra sparkle!
