#EFRJ20: Wonderful Memories
Throw a glimpse at the photo albums from the EFRJ's past and look back with a wide smile to our past events, inspiring working moments and funny and warm social occasions. Do you want to add a comment to these photos? Or do you have a picture that you want to share with us for this occasion? We are expanding this collection, send  your images and thoughts to us here
One of the different initiatives we've launched for this EFRJ's memorable moment is a Jubilee Magazine to be published at the end of this year. The special issue will be building around three thematic umbrellas: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE. The
open call we've launched to collect the articles resulted in 15 exciting contributions: we are looking forward to handing over to you the magazine in December - on our official birthday!

What does justice look like before and after the Covid-19?

We published Dr Ian Marder's report of the last meeting of restorative justice services and practitioners in Europe to talk about their work in the context of COVID-19 in The Restorative Blog last month.
This is the fourth meeting in a row of fruitful and insightful  discussions among experts of the field. This time it was attended by 30 professionals from 17 countries who gathered to discuss the role of technology in restorative justice, and the need for truth and reconciliation in response to the harm, suffering and anger caused by the pandemic and its (mis)management.

Restorative justice in the USA: ongoing challenges during the pandemic.

The USA is one of the worst-affected country in terms of Covid-19 infections. In our last NewsletterLucille Rivin's presentation reflects on the challenges experienced in New York. With this article, she brings our attention to the initiatives of restorative justice activated in these past months regarding children and communities.

Restorative approaches in teaching criminal justice

As part of UNODC’s Justice Education Dialogue series, the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative joined with the Maynooth University Department of Law to host a webinar for academics interested in learning more about restorative approaches to building trust and relationships in criminal justice classrooms.
In case you missed the webinar, or would like to view this again, the recording is available here.

Moment of Inspiration

"Since the death of George Floyd other things have been changing. It's giving me the strength to see things in society changing - not only statues coming down but legislation being looked at".
We got inspired by a
"Restorative Listening" event organised by one of our members: "Why me?" on June 25th. The listening forum gave people the opportunity to come together and share their experiences of systematic racism within the police and the other parts of the criminal justice system.
