Hello Indivisibles,
Republicans have now released an atrocious version of a coronavirus "relief" bill, months after Democrats in the House passed the HEROES act (a real relief bill). The Republican proposal cuts unemployment benefits, gives a special liability shield to employers if their employees get sick, and puts NO money into safety measures for the election. It's unconscionable that Trump allies continue to let the pandemic rage unchecked and then refuse to do anything to help the victims of their negligence.
The unemployment enhancements and protection from evictions in the last coronavirus relief bill have already expired. 30 million people have recently lost their jobs and more job losses are imminent due to the continuing economic devastation from the uncontrolled pandemic. We need our senators to be strong in negotiations and to keep the protections in the HEROES act. And right now, 3 months out from the Nov. 3rd election, we have very little time to ensure a secure election. Keeping the election protection measures in the HEROES act is vital: we'll need the provisions for safer in-person voting, vote-by-mail, and post office funding in order to fight the Trump administration's effort to suppress the vote.

We’re doing more than ever – in spite of the pandemic – as we count down to the most critical election of our lives. Author David Daley will join us at 7pm on Wednesday, Aug. 5 to talk about his book “Unrigged: How Americans Are Battling Back to Save Democracy.” He will talk about grassroots efforts in 2018 and update on us what is happening in 2020. I’m calling Senator Harris/Feinstein to urge her to do everything possible to ensure that the HEROES Act is considered and passed in the Senate without watering it down. The bill includes necessary protections to keep people on payrolls, provide financial relief, protect our public health, and defend democracy.
While Donald Trump is trying to suppress the vote, it's clear we need to keep the measures to expand voting by mail and to make in-person voting safer, as well as fund the Postal Service. We need to keep the moratorium on evictions and foreclosures, expanded paid, sick, and family leave for all workers, and free testing and treatment for all, including immigrants regardless of status.
Please support the Heroes Act, and don't let Republicans include any of their harmful provisions, like a liability shield for employers. Thank you!

It's just 3 months until the November 3rd election- the work we do now decides not only whether Trump stays or goes, but what the Senate will look like in 2021. We can't knock on doors, but we can call and text. With the Trump administration trying to suppress the vote and cast suspicion on election results, we have to make sure the turnout is overwhelming!
